Workstation encryption

Encrypting workstations protects data stored on computers and other devices within an organization.

Encryption converts information into a format unreadable by unauthorized persons, ensuring data confidentiality and security.

Microsoft Intune applies these policies to the computers concerned using built-in encryption technologies, such as BitLocker for Windows devices or FileVault for macOS devices.

Once encryption has been activated, the data stored on the computer is protected against unauthorized access. Only users with the appropriate decryption keys (usually passwords or credentials) can access unencrypted data.

If a device is lost or stolen, the data remains secure because it is encrypted and unreadable by anyone without the decryption keys.
